Long-term Unemployment . The Burden of the Czech Labour Market

This thesis focuses on the long-term unemployment in the Czech Republic. The first part is devoted to methodology of measuring the unemployment. In particular, it focuses on differences between rate of unemployment published by ČSÚ (Eurostat) and rate of registered unemployment which is published by MPSV. The content of the second part is demography of the Czech Republic, especially features which are relevant to structural restrictions on labor market. Hence, the educational and age structures of the Czech Republic are analysed. The third part is divided into two sections. The first section deals with the long-term unemployment at the aggregate level. At first, evolution on the labor market in the last two decades is outlined. Then the structural and cyclical unemployment are separated from the overall unemployment. At last, flexibility of the labor market is examined. The logic of the microeconomic section lies in analysing strategies of long-term unemployed. The thesis ends with the conclusion offering the summary of the gained results. 1
Legal and economic aspects of termination

This thesis focuses on the institute termination of employment from the legal and economic point of view. From a legal perspective, it is mainly about the presentation of the most common ways of termination of employment, including acquainting the reader with a steady legal interpretation. From a microeconomic point of view, the termination of employment relates to the consequences for employers and employees and from a macroeconomic perspective, with consequences for the whole society. This is followed by a practical part which connects the foregoing and the current example of OKD Inc., which employs nearly 10 thousand employees and currently finds itself in serious financial difficulties, the state estimates the costs associated with the mass redundancies at different alternatives. These variants are bankruptcy or reorganization provided financial assistance to the state. At the conclusion of the two calculations are compared and outlines a list of partial measures to mitigate the effects of similar events in the future.
Statistical analysis of unemployment development in CR regions

This diploma thesis analyzes the evolution of regional disparities in terms of unemployment in Czech Republic in the period from 2005 to 2015. The theoretical part focuses on labor market issues and unemployment. In practical part of diploma thesis, there is examined unemployment according to the share of unemployed persons in the respective regions, then also unemployment according to the share of unemployed men and women, prediction of the future development of the share of unemployed persons for the year 2016, the number of registered job seekers, vacancies and the number of registered persons per vacancy. Subsequently all regions are examined in the mutual comparison of registered job-seekers in categories according to age and registration length. Analysis of the evolution of unemployment is illustrated by tables and graphs expressing time series. For statistical examination is used arithmetic average and especially indices in time series as a chain index, growth rate, the average ratio of growth and the average growth rate. There is the overall analysis of the regions according to selected criteria in the conclusion of the thesis. The results characterize regions, which appears to be the worst from the perspective of unemployment and belong amongst endangered or regions achieving the most favourable values.
The influence of structural changes in the unemployment rate in Královéhradecký region in the last decade

This thesis deals with the structural changes in the Královéhradecký region and their analysis shows the impact on unemployment and labor market between 2005 and 2010. The model example is proved the hypothesis that the active employment policy is more cost effective than passive employment policy. The first chapter deals with labor supply, labor demand and its impact on the labor market. The following definition of unemployment and its measurement, types and consequences of unemployment. Furthermore, reference is made to the state employment policy, its funding, and breakdown of the passive employment policy and active employment policy. The second chapter is devoted to the presentation of the. The aim is to effect structural changes in unemployment, which is dedicated to the third chapter. The last chapter deals with policy and employment, which is used to evaluate the situation analysis of success and also the method of comparison.
Structural changes, structural unemployment and its solution on the labor market in the region Karvinsko

This thesis is concentrated on the labor market in the past five years in region Karvinsko. The aim of thesis is to explore the ways in which is solved the imbalance of labor market in this region and to analyze effectiveness of spending money on active employment policy. The deman and supply sides of the labour market are detailly invastigated due to their great influence on the economic development. The thesis deals the efficiency of active employment policy in region Karvinsko, especially community services, retraining and socially useful jobs. Other part of my thesis is evaluation of the case study among the unemployed who are in evidence of the Job centre in Karvina.
Immigrant's position on the Czech labour market and their influence on the structural unemployment

The subject of this thesis is assertion process of foreigners on the Czech labour market. Foreigners from the East are attracted to come to the Czech Republic because of its mature market and specially targeted labour programmes enabling easier entrance to the Czech labour market. The reason is a benefit in form of young, economically active people improving the demographic shape of the Czech society. The thesis is analysing specific factors and barriers that immigrants have to deal with on the labour market and the direct effects of immigration for the host country. The thesis firstly focuses on the analysis of legislative and institutional environment. Then it concentrates on factors determining the decision to migrate. Finally it analyses the impacts of labour migration on the economics and demographics situation in the country of destination. Furthermore there was made a characterization of all regional, professional, age and educational structure of the foreign labour to evaluate the influence of immigrants on the destination labour market. One of the main questions of the quantitative research is whether the foreign workers can have a positive influence on the structural unemployment in the Czech Republic.
